From the pass this section quickly climbs up from the I5 or Interstate 5. Soon you are walking on high ridges between the peaks with noisy Marmots and Pikas calling out as you pass. Often Marmots surprised me with a high pitched squeal......EEEEKKKK!

What promised to be a treat of a section was however ruined by a forest fire forcing all the hikers to go on a diversion loop. I should not moan about it as this could have been a lot worse........and only meant missing a full days worth of trail

You would not want to enter a valley like this (ahead full of smoke)
