I went into the small town of Packwood from Snowqualmie pass to stay for a night and send my last food parcels off. There were approximately 300 trail miles left on the trail just passing a few small resort type places with not much resupply.

Packwood was a great little place with views of the dominant Mt Rainier above the town. I stayed at the friendly Packwood Hotel and proceeded to shuttle run bags of food back to the room for packing up. After so much time on the trail I have got pretty good at this but it still takes a few hours.

When packing up food parcels variety is the name of the game but you are limited to what is on the shelves in the store. Fortunately this place had a fair selection of stuff. Many Americans have friends and family post their food but us foreigners don't normally have this option.

My trail food normally consists of oatmeal (quick cooking), honey to put in it or peanut butter, crisps (chips for American's), Bread either Tortilla, muffins or a loaf, Trail mix (nuts, dried fruit), snickers or other bars....sometimes trail bars, then noodles or pasta, foil packets of tuna or chicken, hot chocolate, tea bags, instant coffee and gatorade. Yeah I know..... not exactly the menu from the Ritz but it keeps you alive and is not that bad.

I was thinking over the last few sections that I have been rationing my food for a long time....that trail hunger just never stops but you can only eat so much food.

Mt Rainier is in the middle and still a good distance away

After the luxury of a bed and some great town food it was back to the trail for myself Ice Axe & Lucky Larry via a ride from a great guy called Squatch. He is an independent film maker who was up there doing some Sasquatch investigations. His site is Walk PCT and he sells some fantastic films on the PCT and also on the Sasquatch! Surely a must buy film...(I was lucky to see a couple of the PCT films at the Saufley's).
