Wildwests World :: Hiking kit list for 2009 trip

I have now updated my kit list. (see attachment). There are some items missing off here that will be either posted on later or kept as backup. There are 2 sleeping bags shown, 2 packs and 2 tents which I will alternate according to the conditions and terrain. I shall not be carrying all this kit!.....lots will be held by friends

Other kit I still need - water filter cartridge, waterproof trousers, suncream, platypus bottles

Lots more kit!

My baseweight for lightweight kit is about 8kg......and for full kit 9kg. I am confident that I have enough stuff to survive anthing the weather can throw at me with the heavier kit. You may notice the novelty teeth and harmonica......going to be useful to cheer myself up and freak out other hikers!

Is that a golite pinnacle I see? Did you use this on your earlier trip and how did it shape up?

Not been tempted by a Neoair? I guess tried and trusted gear receives preference?

Doh! Should have read the kit list as it answers my first question.

Two sacks, two tents etc; guess thats about changing between cold and hot climates?

Interested in your experience with the Cumulus bag (quantum 300?). Got the 200 and it pushes my limits . Have a feeling that the ratings are optimistic, at least for me, (rated at 0°C but I need a down pully and long johns from around 2-3°C).

the cumulus kept me warm to -5C.......but only just.....a light frost is the limit really.....

It was a good bag for summer here in the USA! where most nights the temp dropped to around freezing........
